Great „craic agus ceol“ was experienced by those who attended the live Irish music session on Monday, June 6th, at the Black Sheep Pub on Kyffhäuserstraße. Our club Irish Language and Cultural Officer, Gareth Houston, organised the event and musicians from far and wide joined in for a great night of music.
Since becoming our Irish Language and Cultural Officer in November 2020, Gareth has made Irish music sessions in Cologne one of his priorities. However, it was impossible to organise them until now due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and other reasons; it is fantastic to see that they have started.
As an official club event, we would encourage all Celts and those in the wider Irish community in Cologne to support Gareth’s endeavours! If you are a musician who would like to play at these events, please come along with your instrument.
A group from the club attended this session and had a fantastic night. For the price of your drinks for the night, attendees get to listen to some beautiful music from highly-talented musicians. Having experienced two years of lockdowns and reduced social contact, the opportunity to get out and meet familiar faces (including Richard Crighton: Cologne’s Pie Man!) and make new friends can also not be underestimated.
Irish music sessions will happen in the Black Sheep Pub every second Monday, with the next scheduled for June 20th. There will undoubtedly be representatives from the Cologne Celtics GAA Club there. Ein großartiges „craic agus ceol“ („Spaß und Musik“) konnten die Besucher der Irish Music Session am Montag, 6. Juni, im Black Sheep Pub in der Kyffhäuserstraße erleben. Unser Irish Language and Cultural Officer, Gareth Houston, organisierte die Veranstaltung und Musiker von nah und fern kamen für einen ausgelassenen Musikabend zusammen.
Seit er im November 2020 unser Irish Language and Cultural Officer wurde, hat Gareth irische Musikveranstaltungen in Köln zu einer seiner Prioritäten gemacht. Aufgrund der Coronavirus-Pandemie und anderer Gründe war es jedoch bisher nicht möglich, sie zu organisieren; es ist fantastisch zu sehen, dass sie nun stattfinden.
Wir möchten alle Celts und diejenigen in der weiteren irischen Gemeinschaft in Köln ermutigen, Gareths Bemühungen zu unterstützen! Wenn du ein Musiker bist, der bei diesen Veranstaltungen mitspielen möchte, komm einfach mit deinem Instrument vorbei!
Ein paar Mitglieder aus dem Club nahmen an dieser Veranstaltung teil und hatten einen fantastischen Abend. Für den Preis der Getränke an diesem Abend bekommen die Teilnehmer wunderschöne Musik von hochtalentierten Musikern zu hören. Nach zwei Jahren mit Lockdowns und reduzierten sozialen Kontakten ist die Gelegenheit, bekannte Gesichter zu treffen und neue Freunde zu finden, nicht zu unterschätzen.
Irische Musiksessions finden jeden zweiten Montag im Black Sheep Pub statt, die nächste ist für den 20. Juni geplant. Mit Sicherheit werden auch Vertreter des GAA-Clubs Cologne Celtics anwesend sein!
