Irish Culture

Irische Kultur bezieht sich auf viele Aspekte des irischen Lebens und auf das, was es besonders macht. In einem eher konventionellen Sinne kann sie sich auf unsere gälischen/keltischen Wurzeln mit den Geschichten von Cú Chulainn, Oisín i dTír na nÓg, na Fianna und Fionn McCumhaill beziehen, sowie auf die traditionelle Musik und die Lieder, die wir hatten, die Rezepte traditioneller irischer Speisen, unsere Kunst und Literatur und natürlich – unseren irischen Sport.

Das Irland des 21. Jahrhunderts hat sich jedoch enorm entwickelt und verändert. Aus einem Land, das vor allem dafür bekannt war, seine Bevölkerung in die ganze Welt zu exportieren, ist ein Land geworden, das Menschen aus der ganzen Welt willkommen heißt. Menschen fast aller Nationalitäten und Hintergründe leben heute auf der grünen Insel, und sie haben ihre Kultur und ihren Hintergrund mit Irland und der irischen Kultur integriert. Dies spiegelt auch den Charakter der GAA-Vereine in Deutschland und darüber hinaus wider, wie z. B. die Cologne Celtics.

Diese Seite soll verschiedene Aspekte der irischen Kultur beleuchten, die nicht unbedingt mit unserem Sport in Verbindung gebracht werden. Wir hoffen, dass wir Ihnen einen Einblick in das geben können, was Irland zu dem macht, was es ist, und Sie hoffentlich dazu inspiriert, sich weiter für das „Land of Saints and Scholars“ zu interessieren

Irish culture refers to many aspects of Irish life and what makes it unique. In a more conventional sense, it can refer to our Gaelic/Celtic roots with the stories of Cú Chulainn, Oisín i dTír na nÓg, na Fianna and Fionn McCumhaill, as well as the traditional music and songs we had, the recipes of traditional Irish food, our art and literature and of course – our Irish sports.

However, Ireland in the 21st century has developed and changed enormously. From a country that was mostly known for exporting its population around the world to one that has welcomed people from all over the world. People from almost all nationalities and backgrounds now live on the Emerald Isle, and they have fused their culture and background into the tapestry of Ireland and Irish culture. This also reflects the character of GAA clubs in Germany and further afield, such as the Cologne Celtics.

This page aims to highlight different aspects of Irish culture that may not necessarily be linked with our sports. Our hope here is to provide an insight into what makes Ireland the place that it is, and it will hopefully inspire you to take further interest in „the Land of Saints and Scholars“.
